Before the Internet, Maureen worked in corporate public relations where she was responsible for communicating a company's direction through written materials. In 1996, she took her skills to the World Wide Web where she developed marketing and promotion materials using the Web's potential for interactivity to communicate a message. She has been recognized by her peers in education by being honoured with four national awards from the Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education (CCAE). Seeing the potential for the Web as an educational tool, Maureen obtained a Master of Science degree in Education, with a specialty in online teaching and learning, from California State University. In addition, she has a BAA in Journalism and a MA Canadian Studies. Maureen is now working towards a PhD at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto.
